Pool is a very competitive sport, which is quite different from other billiard games. It is popular throughout the world. There are many versions of this game in the USA. The most popular are the eight-ball and nine-ball pool. Pool matches are usually played over several games, with the winner declared after reaching a certain number of frames. The winner is usually awarded 61 points. However, different winning numbers can be awarded handicaps.

The primary goal of the game are to have all the balls pounded. Each ball pocketed is worth 1 point. Additional balls can be added to your score. A player is considered to win if they have the eight ball in their hand first. If the player fails to pocket the eight ball, the game is lost. If the eight ball is pocketed during a foul, the other balls that were pocketed in the course of the foul are pocketed and are spotted. However, the foul does not count towards the points. The foul is not counted towards the points if a player commits more than one foul in a row.

There are three types of balls: solid, striped, and object. They are typically smaller than American style balls. They come in a variety colours, including dark violet for four and twelve balls. They used to be all red but are now multicolored. They can be made of a variety materials including wood, fibreglass and carbon fiber. Most common diameters for balls are 2+1/16 in, 2 in, and 3 in.

The object of the game, however, is to steal the black eight balls. To do so, the player must pocket all the balls that are assigned to be pounded, but he must make sure that all the balls that are pocketed are spotted and placed in direct lines to the foot rail. The balls that were taken are then placed on the table and the player with the most pockets can decide whether or not he wants the game to continue.

The player can take a ball and pocket it without fouling. He or she must place the ball in the exact spot at the foot of the player calling the shot. The foul must be committed within the time frame of the shot. Any other balls must be placed directly in front of the foot spot. The foul will not count towards the points, but a player will receive a free shot. This shot can also be played with any other ball.

Each player who makes a shot must place the ball into their pocket. The ball in the front row, and the ball in the center of the table, are the balls that must be hit first. If a foul occurs before a ball can be pocketed, then the ball in front row must be again pocketed. A player can also pocket other balls.
