
Shaun Murphy, a world-class player in snooker, is well-known for his straight cue action and long potting. Over 400 century breaks have been achieved by Murphy, including the 2nd highest in the Championship League in 2014.
Murphy was ranked number 3 in the world at start to the 2008/2009 Season. Murphy dropped to number seven for 2010/2011. He won the Players Tour Championship that year and finished his career Triple Crown. Murphy was considered a big underdog so Murphy's win was unexpected. He reached the final of UK Championship in 2012. He was defeated by Judd Trump, the eventual winner.
Murphy is considered a talented player and he has achieved many firsts in his career. These include his first 147 break and his first ranking title. He also made his first appearance in the World Snooker Championship.
He began his career on the Challenge Tour, also known as the UK Tour, in 1998. His father, Tony, was a professional golfer. He was bullied at school as a teen. Although he attended homeschooling classes, he didn't see his mom until a year later. A year later, he met his wife, Elaine, and they were married in June 2006. The couple got engaged despite the opposition of his family.

Shaun has won more than PS3,000,000 in prize money during his career. He has won seven other tournaments. He has also played in eight ranking tournaments and reached the quarterfinals of two.
He was ranked no. 4 in the world at the start of 2004/2005 season. He also won both the Brugge Open (Welsh Open) and the Brugge Open. He was also diagnosed with Savant Syndrome.
In 2005, he won the World Championship. The BBC awarded him the Sportsman of the Years title the following year. After that, he became a surgical resident at the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital in California.
Murphy had trouble communicating with his peers as a young boy. Murphy may have had a poor social life because of this. He has been in many difficult romantic relationships but has managed to overcome them all. Elaine was his girlfriend when he proposed to her at an Irish restaurant.
Ray Reardon coached him when he turned 15 years old. From then on, he was coached by Ray Reardon. He continued working with Steve Prest through 2006. Willie Thorne provided coaching for the 2007/2008 Season. He won the Challenge Tour's third- and fourth events.

Murphy won the Wuxi Classic in China. After that, Murphy entered the elite top 16. He made his next appearance at the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. Despite only having five frames in his qualifying round, he made it to the quarterfinals where he defeated teenager Luca Brecel.
He then won the German Masters Championship, the Ruhr Championship, as well the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. For the entire 2008/2009 season, he was still ranked number 3. He reached the semi-finals at the UK Championship and Shanghai Masters during the same season.
