Straight Pool Rules - How to Play Straight Pool

Straight Pool was created in the early 15th century. It was popularized in the United States up until the 1980s. Eight-ball and nineball replaced it. It was also featured prominently in The Hustler (61). Jayshaw established the current straight-pool record of 714 point in 2022.

Unlike other games, there are no restrictions on how many object balls can be pocketed in a straight pool game. The shooter is allowed to pocket any ball spotted on the board, except the apex. A shooter may pocket a ball in open positions or on safety. However, the point earned by pocketing a ball is not included. It is also possible for a shooter to pocket a ball when it is in a tie up or dead ball.

Straight pool only allows ten balls per shooter. After the cue ball has been taken, the shooter will keep the last object ball in the rack. After he finishes, the shooter will take home the last objectball left on the table.

Straight Pool can be played by two people. Straight Pool is played using a standard 15-ball rack. Each player can keep the last ball in the set and then take out the next 14 balls. The player who scores the most points wins the game.

The opening break in straight pool refers to the shot that is taken first. It is usually a softbreak, and the goal is to get the ball in the corner of the pack. The cueball is then rolled onto three rails, and into the corner of your table where you broke.
