A good pool stun shot is something you should master. It can be the difference of winning or losing. There are many different shots and each has its own rules. You cannot simply hit the ball. Instead, you'll need to hit it hard. The better your chances of it getting pocketed, the harder you hit it.
A stunshot is a shot which requires a strong hit. This is a shot that requires a strong hit in pool. This is often accomplished by lifting the butt end or putting an oblique jack.
A "break" shot is one that is taken at the last OB in a straight-pool game. There are several different types of break shots. Some are intended to help you out of trouble, others are meant to make it more easy to score. One example is the golden break or the golden pocket.
Another option is to break-out or break-out. This shot can be used to score a quick shot if the ball cluster is out-of-position. Your shot may be able to jar your opponent, putting him in a difficult spot. A good hit often results in an OB that remains on the table, making the job harder.
However, a "break" is not the only way to score a win. Other ways to do the same thing include the following:
Grade "A" shot: This is a shot that has a high probability of success. For example, a good hit will strike an OB first, followed by a second hit that can pocket the OB.
Fancy shot: This is a rare skill that takes a lot of practice and a prop or two. Typically, this involves a very short and punchy stroke, called a "J" stroke. The "J" stroke is not straight like a jab strike. It's curved in the same way as a pendulum. The cue ball can be rolled in a jelly roll which is also beneficial to the shooter.
Fancy-looking. Another term for a fancy-looking shot, is a "flight." Flight is a fancy-looking shot. It is not necessarily the best, but it is certainly the most impressive. Normally, a flight is a low percentage shot, such as a top/bottom spin or a flyer.
Stun shot: While a stun shot may not be as glamorous as other types of shots, it's actually pretty important. It is a good idea having it handy. Otherwise, your opponent could easily steal a win.
Another common name for stun shots is the jelly roll, grade "B", and the nip-draw. But which is the best?
A nip drawing is a good idea in the pool world because it prevents the CB jumping off the table. The follow-through is minimal, so a nip stroke can be a bit more difficult.
