Derby City Classic Results, Derby City Pool Tournament Champions

Each year thousands of pool-players travel to Southern Indiana each year for the Derby City Classic. This annual event hosts a number of disciplines, including One-Pocket (9-Ball Banks), 9-Ball Banks, and the BIGFOOT 10-ball challenge (10-ball).

The first event of the Derby City Classic was held in 1998. Greg Sullivan, who created the tournament, was a lifetime fan of Johnston City Hustlers Jamboree. Sullivan contracted the Pantone Company for research on the ideal color for pool cloth. After testing, Tournament Blue became the dominant color in professional tournaments.

2003 saw the second event. The World Pool Alliance sponsored this tournament which featured several top players. The tournament started with nine balls banks. Then came the one-pocket, and finally the BIGFOOT ten-ball challenge. The tournament was held in the Caesars Southern Indiana Casino in Elizabeth, Indiana. The event had a number vendors and ring games. There was also cash game. The tournament took place on 53 9-foot Diamond tables.

A few players were making their Derby City Classic debuts in the tournament. Aside from the tournament, the event also featured a number of special events, including the Diamond Ten-Foot challenge, a small field of pros. The challenge is played on five-foot-by-ten-foot tables. The winner will receive $16,000 while the winner in the nine-ball bank or one-pocket contests will each receive $8,000. BIGFOOT 10ball Challenge was also the first Derby City Classic event. The winner of that contest receives $16,000, while the winner of the nine-ball bank and one-pocket contests each receive $8,000.


2006 was the third year of the event. The tournament featured many players who had played in their first Derby City Classic event. Corey Deuel and Dennis Grabe performed well in the one-pocket and 9-ball bank events. The other players were not as successful. Darren Appleton was able to finish third in the One-Pocket. He also utilized his algorithm well for the Derby Cup, earning him a third position finish.

2015 was the last year of the event. The tournament featured a number of players who have been in the field for their first Derby City event. Corey Deuel, Darren Appleton, Lee Vann, and Joshua Filler all did well in the Derby City Classic. Joshua Filler, Darren Appleton, and Joshua Filler did well enough to take third place in the one pocket. Efren and Mika were also there.

The Derby City Classic is an annual pool competition that takes place at Caesars Southern Indiana Casino in Elizabeth. There are many disciplines to the competition, including nine-ball bank, one-pocket and BIGFOOT 10-ball. The event will take place in January. Tickets are available from January 20th. Tickets may be purchased at Derby City Classic's office located at Caesars Southern Indiana casino and hotel. To purchase a ticket, you will need to be able show a valid photo ID.
