There are no draws when playing cutthroat. A draw is when the shooter and the opponent's ball make contact with each other and are both pocketed. Cutthroat does not allow for any draws. However, players who spot a ball without making contact with it will be accepted by the rest of the group.

Three to five players is the most common way of playing cutthroat. It is possible to play the game with two players depending on the number of players. A team has a greater chance of winning if each player is proficient in the game. But it can still be fun to play with two or three players.
