When it comes to pool cues, there are many varieties to choose from. There are three types of pool cues: an English cue, an American cue and a jump one. Each one has its unique characteristics. You'll be better prepared to make the best decision for yourself if you learn more about them.

American pool cues

There are a number of differences between American pool cues and English cues. American cues are split almost always in the middle, while English cues might split at the 3/4 mark. English pool and snooker are increasingly using the 3/4 joint. This cue allows the player balance the weight higher than it would with a standard cue. To discover which cue you love best, try different types.

English pool cues

An English pool cue might be the right choice for you, whether you're a beginner or an intermediate player. These cues are typically thinner than other styles, and can measure between eight and nine millimeters in width at the tip. To add strength and endurance, they are often equipped with a brass ferrule. They are also made from ash wood, which has a unique grain.

Snooker cues

You can make Snooker cues out of a variety different types of wood. Some are made out of Ash, while others are made out of maple. They can have a tip of seven to eleven micrometers. The overall length is sixteen to eighteen inch. Snooker cues weigh between sixteen and nineteen ounces, with 3/4th joints. Snooker cues can also be made with a ferrule made of steel, titanium, or fiber.

Jump cues

A jump cue is a kind of pool cue which has a hard tips. It allows the player to transfer more power towards the cueball. There are many different types of jump cues, and the best ones will help you improve your jump shots. But before you decide to buy a jump-cue, be sure to weigh its pros and con's.

Squirt

A squirt can be caused by a cue ball being struck off-center. It causes the ball’s motion to change direction and creates a deflection. The deflection occurs due to physics. However, it can also be caused a by many factors. For example, an off-center hit will cause the tip of the cue ball to make contact with an angled surface, so the more off-center the hit, the greater the deflection.

Size of tip

The tip size on an English poolcue can be adjusted to suit the type of game. The average size of a cue tip is approximately 9.5mm. An American cue has a much larger tip than an English pool cue, which makes striking the cue ball very easy. These cues are however difficult to aim so they are not the best choice in Snooker.

English pool cues typically are made of Ash wood. They have a brass ferrule that provides strength and a coarse leather tip that gives them grip. They are the thinnest of all pool cues, with a length of around 57 inches and a tip that is about 8 to 9 millimeters wide. Ash is a tough wood that doesn't show its grain pattern. English cues tend to be more flexible than American counterparts. This means that they are less likely warp.

Cost of an English pool cue

A pool cue in English can range from PS30 to PS300, depending on the quality. A good cue should last for years. An English pool cue's performance is affected by many factors, including the tip and size.
