The US Open 9 Ball Championship is a highly coveted title in nine-ball pool. Held every year, it is a major tournament that attracts over 1,000 spectators and is broadcast on ESPN sports channel. 64 competitors will share a prize fund totaling $148,000. An additional $500 fee will be required to enter the event.

There have been many notable winners of the US Open 9 Ball Championship. Earl Strickland has won the title, as well as Steve Mizerak and Mike Sigel. Efren "The Magician", Reyes, is the pocket billiards player who has had the greatest success. He has won a U.S. Open Championship and a World Championship.

Luther Lassiter was a legendary road player who won six international 9 ball championships during his career. He died in October 1988. Buddy Hall is a well-known name for 9 balls. Hall has won back-to-back US Open titles. He has received praise from fans and his talent has been acknowledged. In the 1970s, he was the dominant figure in Shreveport 9-ball.

Tanvee, a nine-year old Indian girl from Hyderabad, began playing nine-ball seven years ago. Roy Pastor, the Billiards Education Foundation's coach, has been training him. He will be competing in the Predator World Junior 9 Ball Championship on Monday.
